When the lamp is connected to the circuit, the thermal effect of the current flowing through the filament causes the incandescent lamp to emit continuous visible light and infrared rays. This phenomenon can be detected when the filament temperature rises to 700K. Because the filament temperature is very high, most of the energy is wasted in the form of infrared radiation. So the lifespan is much shorter, about 2,200 hours, and the light efficiency is about 12 (Lm) per watt. In the past, lighting system only paid attention to quantity, but today it has gradually moved towards refinement, paying attention to saving energy. Because of the extensive use of lighting technology and lighting appliances, people's living standards are generally improved, the demand for lighting equipment is increasing, and the power consumption is also expanding, so the development of high-efficiency and high-quality lighting equipment has begun to be emphasized.
The electronic energy-saving lamp mainly heats the filament of the lamp through a ballast. At about 1160 K, the filament begins to emit electrons (fixed on the filament with some electron powder) which collide with the argon atom elastically. After the argon atom collides, the energy is obtained and then collides with the mercury atom. After absorbing the energy, the filament transits to ionize and emits 253.7 n. The filament temperature of the fluorescent lamp is about 1160 K, which is lower than that of the incandescent lamp from 2200 K to 2700 K. Therefore, the lifetime of the filament is also greatly increased to more than 8000 hours. Moreover, the filament can reach 60 (lm) lumens per watt because it does not have the current-heat effect of the incandescent lamp.
